Cerro San Pedro Careers
Mining activities date back to the early 1950's at Cerro San Pedro, when approximately 2.5 million ounces of gold and 40 million ounces of silver were produced from the Cerro San Pedro district. Renewed interest in the Cerro San Pedro district began in the 1970's with evaluations by various companies to determine the district's potential for large tonnage, low-grade, and bulk mineable deposit.
Cerro San Pedro is located in central Mexico, 20 km outside the state capital city of San Luis Potosí. The Cerro San Pedro gold-silver deposit is located along the western margin of the Sierra Madre Oriental fold belt within a sequence of Cretaceous limestone.
The Cerro San Pedro gold-silver, heap-leach project is expected to produce 80,000 ounces of gold and 3.5 million ounces of silver, annually, over an estimated life of ten years. Construction of the process plant and related project facilities are complete, and the project completed its first gold sale in May of 2007. By December 31, 2007, the project was cash flow positive.
Our safety performance is among the best in the industry. In 2007, our employees recorded no lost time accidents (LTA) while logging over 270,000 man-hours. Loss control is a priority for us and Cerro San Pedro's safety performance is a reflection of this commitment.
